If you know me, you know that I love to throw elaborate, over-the-top, totally unnecessary birthday parties, showers, or other events, especially for beings too young to notice or care. I can't help it. It's my favourite. But why? Part of it has to do with my love of creating things... making things with my very own hands and bringing my visions to life. It's fun, And as it turns out, creativity fills my cup. The other part of why I love to host parties, to decorate, to bake, and to make people feel special has to do with the fact that I actually do love to celebrate. I love birthdays and holidays and even regular days that I can make into special memories for my kids and my family. Again, it's just fun!
Awhile ago, I came across this hashtag on Instagram: #celebrateeverything. And while, it seems a bit extravagant, a bit exhausting, and honestly, a bit unapproachable, it also really spoke to me. I'm pretty sure if I had a motto, this would be it. Every event, every day, every minute is remarkable - even if only in the sense that it is unique - and deserves to be celebrated. Am I going to have a fancy dinner party everyday or host a huge party every day Max gets on without peeing his pants? No. No. No. But, I can do what I can to celebrate my children's milestones and accomplishments. I can do things to make the every day special and to make ordinary events remarkable. I can do simple things to make remarkable events memorable.
So, I will #celebrateeverything
A few weeks ago, Miss Teyauna turned 8 and as such was able to partake in the ordinance of Baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This was a perfect event to celebrate. I was happy to do a small session with Teyauna to celebrate her choice and to do a little something to make it extra special for her.
She was a terrific little model! We made sure to showcase her beautiful white baptism dress and her brand new Scriptures.
Teyauna's Mom told me afterwards how nice it was to do a little photoshoot because it just made Teyauna feel so special. That's what I love to hear. What better way to celebrate this event in her young life than by making her feel extra special and by creating wonderful and physical memories for her? I hope she will be able to look back on these images as she grows and remember what she felt this day in her life and how special and loved she is.
Congratulations Miss Teyauna!
